POSTSCRIPT

Last painting in 2009

Its been a bad year on my painting scene, not much done and the studio too cold now to mess about in.
Has allways been that way with me,periods when I just cant get into gear and the imagination goes flat and I'd rather be on my motorbike or computer(or doing nothing)for maybe a year or two then a period when I just don't want to be away from the easel and bugger everything else. Complete lack of discipline I suppose,its a bit late to change that at my time of life.

You may have seen this one before,I've made several changes in the last couple of months but got to stop now as it's gone as a Christmas present to family.

Edge of the Essex marshes

On the road to Mersea Island on the east coast. Marshes are on the right,the house on the left is where we lived in the late 40s. On high tides the sea would be just a few yards from the front door and I have sailed my boat across the road!
In the heavy winter of 1947 a snow drift covered the front of the house right up to the upstairs windows due to the heavy winds and all was dark inside.
We were cut off for a while until the road was cleared, the marshes opposite were covered in thick ice bought in by the tide..

The magic of computers

One of my old boat paintings that I have put through my computer,changed it to black and white and raised the contrast.

I much prefer it to the original look as it now has the dramatic feel of the sea and sail.

I've never tried a monochrome type painting but think I might now have a go.
