When the RAF spoke proper.


No music to this one so you'll just have to whistle the "Dam Busters" theme.
I can just remember the pre war air shows and very exciting they were.The old biplanes were much slower and lower,the formation flying was in a smaller area and stayed in sight all the time.The shows usually ended with a mock battle and diving low to drop flour bombs on mock fortifications and hapless soldiers.
The biplanes were a beautiful silver colour and really did look very smart and you could see the pilots sitting in the cockpits with a machine gunner sitting behind.
My father flew in earlier models in World War One till he crashed.(survived,hence me,five brothers and a sister)
