I did say I had a load of mad nieces, well I also have a mad nephew.
This was once his personal transport.I think it is now happily
rusting away at the bottom of his garden, the last of the gas guzzlers.

Looks a brute of a thing, more like an army vehicle.

Paul
Cost him a 'bomb' coming to see his dad in Wales which is where the picture was taken
ReplyDeleteI beg to argue with Paul, and say it is a Humber hybrid for rough ground/offroad. Army personnel.
ReplyDeleteI have a neighbour in who says he drove one. I haven't, I must add.

body same shape as the old army Humber(I remember it well) with the rounded back but this is much larger and heavier,an armoured Volvo
ReplyDeleteIt's a Volvo Sugga!
ReplyDelete1950's Swedish Army Radio Car.
In the back were two big valve radio transmitters.
Sugga is Swedish for Sow,(mummy pig).
AKA Norwegian taxi.
If you want to go offroad this is the vehicle to have.
3.6litre straight six, petrol. Crash gearbox, high/low ratio transfer box. vacuum diff locks. Very low mpg.
If you type volvo sugga in youtube you can see some in action. These days people stick big american engines in them.
Paul
Whoops! wrong again. Damn Old Bill from up the road... Next time.
