A British Pathe film about Mersea Island on the Essex coast during WW2. James Wentworth Day was a frequent visitor to our house on the marshes there. It was a beautiful part of England then, completely unspoilt and I count myself very lucky to have spent my boyhood sailing boats and riding bicycles round the countryside.
Oddly enough James Wentworth Day hated what the government agricultural people were doing to the local farmers but this film doesn't show it.
This film is laughably old English but just look at the background! (go full screen)
