    Girdles also made life miserable in the 60's. Horrible pieces of clothing!

    In our village there was a lady who visited homes to fit girdles! She once described one lady as having 'a pendulous abomen' (correct spelling.) I doubt if she was ever the same again!

    I can't stand feeling all penned in and uncomfortable, my mother used to make me wear Spirella corsets when I was going through puppy-fat days.
