With younger brother in swanky pram and Nanny
who wasn't my real Nanny who was a stern Scottish
lady who wore a blue uniform and nurses hat.
The pram wheels were later used for a trolley, the
temporary nanny went off to get married and I partly
grew up.

I do remember prams like that, with those great big springs. There doesn't seem to be any kind of suspension on modern prams which, no doubt, leads to babies been shaken about causing long-term psychological damage which brings about fundamental changes in society ... the rot.
ReplyDeleteWhen our local Home Guard was formed this pram was converted into an auxiliary fire tender with buckets of sand and water plus stirrup pump. I don't think it ever saw action. bro-in-the-pram.
ReplyDeleteWe had a pram like this stored in the outhouse ( waiting for another addition?), I used to make a den in it, it was nice and deep if I took the bottom panel out. I hid for many an hour whilst all were looking for me! Naughty child.
ReplyDeleteLove Granny
Granny..Yes,I remember that lift out panel, turned the bottom of the pram into a seat when lifted out.
ReplyDeleteAnon...That was Bruce in the pram,I'm not that many years older than you!
My brother made trolleys from pram wheels. We lived on a hill. I loved it, so how come I'm afraid of rollercoasters now?
ReplyDeleteIn which case Anon... was probably hiding in the lift out panel . . . move over Granny.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't changed a bit!
ReplyDeleteI remember one of those prams being used to fetch coal. I don't think there was a baby in it at the time... grins
wow, that's a piece of history there
